Statement on the Termination of Members of the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices

For Our Health, a nonpartisan initiative committed to defending science-based public health policy, condemned the decision of Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to terminate all 17 members of the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices.

“Secretary Kennedy’s move is as dangerous as it is irresponsible,” said Dr. Mary Pittman, DPH, co-founder of For Our Health. “He is dismissing these highly qualified individuals simply because their training and expertise do not align with his deeply flawed views. This is public health malpractice.”

The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices has long played an invaluable role in safeguarding public health by providing rigorous, science-driven guidance on vaccine use. Its work has not only improved health outcomes across the country but has undoubtedly saved countless lives. Purging the committee of its members removes a vital layer of protection at a time when misinformation about vaccines continues to spread rapidly and when new and emerging infectious threats require vigilant oversight.

“This decision puts Americans at risk,” added Pittman. “It opens the door to confusion and undermines the public’s confidence in life-saving vaccines. We call on Secretary Kennedy to reverse this reckless action immediately and to reassure the public that the Trump Administration remains committed to proven vaccine strategies and science-based decision making that puts people’s health and lives first.”
